Who am I?

My name is Josh, trail name “Pace Car”, and I discovered long-distance backpacking in 2015 and it felt larger than life. I wanted adventure and to be part of something bigger than myself. I found it on an anniversary hike with my wife on the Florida Trail and haven’t looked back since. Considering that I was diagnosed with an “incurable” disease in middle school, I feel very lucky to be able to get outdoors and hike long distance trails. As a result, I aim to positively impact other people making every step on the trail count for something more than just my personal experience.

What is “Hike with Heart”?

The overall experience of hiking for something bigger than myself is what #HikeWithHeart means to me. I hike for personal enjoyment, but I also choose to hike for a good cause: raising money for charity. I’m also passionate about practicing Leave No Trace ethics so I can leave the outdoor spaces I visit a little cleaner than when I came.
