About

Who am I?

My name is Josh, a.k.a. “Pace Car”, and I discovered long-distance backpacking in 2015 on an anniversary hike with my wife on the Florida Trail and haven’t looked back since. Long hikes feel larger than life! I also hike to positively impact other people; every step on the trail counts for something more than just my personal experience. Part of that journey includes serving as part of the 2019 Granite Gear Grounds Keeper team! The other part includes raising money for charity. I hope to see you on the trail and share some of my adventures with the world.

What is “Hike with Heart”?

The overall experience of hiking for something bigger than myself is what #HikeWithHeart means to me. I hike for personal enjoyment, but I also choose to hike for a good cause: raising money for charity. I’m also passionate about practicing Leave No Trace ethics so I can leave the outdoor spaces I visit a little cleaner than when I came.
